Annie is from an Irish Catholic background and two years ago made the brave decision to leave her husband of twenty-five years with whom she had three children. She revelled in her new single life and eventually met a new man whom she came to love. She contracted HIV through this relationship but was only diagnosed after her partner died of a brain haemorrhage and a routine test during organ donation revealed his status. HIV has not affected her life in the way she thought it might have done - she is happy, healthy, and in settled in a new relationship.
